Dobrogini – Virtual Museum
Dobrogea narrated, documented and explored digitally
Dobrorigini is a platform dedicated to the heritage, history and identity of Dobrogea, started by Bogdan Bola out of passion for this region and developed as a digital space for cultural discovery. Through the Dobrorigini – Virtual Museum stage, YVS contributes to the gradual development of the platform into a virtual museum of Dobrogea, with documented resources, interpretive texts, thematic collections, visual materials and digital exploration tools.
The story of the project
Dobrorigini starts from a simple belief: Dobrogea cannot be understood only through a few well-known tourist attractions. It is a dense, stratified, multicultural region, where history, nature, communities and the memory of places overlap in a rare way.
The Dobrorigini platform was initiated by Bogdan Bola, out of passion for Dobrogea and for recovering the stories, places and cultural resources of the region. Within the Danube Road – Dobrorigini project, YVS collaborated with this initiative and used the platform as a space to publish and organize the content resulting from the documentation of the Danube cultural routes.
The Dobrorigini – Virtual Museum stage continues this direction and proposes a broader development: the gradual transformation of the platform into a virtual museum dedicated to the Dobrogean heritage. It is not just about publishing online articles, but about building a coherent framework for cultural interpretation, in which the heritage is researched, selected, contextualized and presented in a form accessible to the general public.
Dobrogea has a cultural and natural heritage of exceptional complexity: Greek, Roman, Romano-Byzantine and medieval archaeological sites, fortresses, historical monuments, rural architecture, multicultural communities, Danubian and maritime landscapes, traditions, crafts and living forms of local memory. However, information about these resources is often dispersed, hard to find or presented fragmentarily.
The virtual museum aims to bring these resources into a clearer, more beautifully organized and easier to explore digital space. The platform will be able to include thematic collections, heritage files, narrative trails, photo materials, digital maps, interpretive texts and educational resources that explain the connections between places, communities, landscapes and identities.
For YVS, Dobrorigini is one of the important directions for consolidating activity in Dobrogea. The project creates a bridge between research, cultural education, digital heritage and community development, providing a foundation on which new materials, collaborations and initiatives dedicated to the region can be gradually built.
What we set out to do
- Let's develop the Dobrorigini platform as a virtual museum dedicated to the cultural, natural and identity heritage of Dobrogea.
- Let's organize the content about Dobrogea into a clear curatorial structure, with themes, collections, narrative routes, and easy-to-explore resources.
- Let's document and interpret the Dobrogea heritage in an accessible, visual and educational language, without reducing it to simple tourist promotion.
- Let's bring to the public's attention places, stories, communities and forms of heritage that are less visible, but relevant to the region's identity.
- Let's transform Dobrorigini into a useful resource for the general public, students, teachers, cultural tourists, researchers, guides, NGOs and local communities.
- Let's build a sustainable digital base, which can be gradually supplemented with new materials, sheets, routes, stories and visual resources.
What we develop
- The Dobrorigini platform already exists and includes a first structure dedicated to the discovery of Dobrogea, with cultural routes and space dedicated to the development of the virtual museum.
- YVS is gradually developing new content for the platform, building on the experience of the Danube Road – Dobrorigini project and the collaborations already built in the region.
- The virtual museum stage aims to structure the content into thematic collections, heritage sheets, interpretation texts, visual materials and digital exploration tools.
- The platform will be able to function as an educational and cultural resource for the public interested in the heritage of Dobrogea, but also as a basis for future documentation, research and community development projects.
- Dobrorigini consolidates the strategic direction of Dobrogea in the YVS activity and offers a digital framework through which the region's heritage can be told, explained and passed on.
