On the weekend when Bucharest turns 567, we invite you to celebrate it the way we like it best: by walking its streets, taking a closer look at the houses we pass by, looking for stories and rediscovering the city beyond the grand boulevards.
On September 19 and 20, 2026, within Bucharest Story | 567 years of stories & Urban Explorers – Night Session | Special Edition, we prepare to Cantacuzino Palace – "George Enescu" National Museum„ a weekend dedicated to heritage, history and urban exploration.
In addition to the cultural program in the courtyard of the Cantacuzino Palace, we have prepared two guided tours for adults and a treasure hunt for children and parents. Three different ways to do the same thing: slow down a bit and learn to see the city.
Urban Explorers started from the idea that heritage should not only be seen, but also known, explored and lived. The city becomes closer when you learn its stories, when you start to notice the details of a facade, the traces of other eras or the connections between people, buildings and streets.
September 19 | Guided tour on Calea Victoriei
We start from the Splai end of Căia Victoriei and travel, for approximately two hours, through the history of one of Bucharest's most important arteries.
From the old Mogoșoaia Bridge to the Calea Victoriei we know today, the route will take us through different eras and will help us discover the stories of the buildings encountered along the way, but also of the people who built, inhabited or transformed them.
It's not just a tour about "what building is this?", but about how a street tells the story of a city: how Bucharest has changed, what has disappeared, what remains, and what we can still discover if we look closely enough.

September 20 | "The Nabob's Neighbors" – around the Cantacuzino Palace
On Sunday we stay near our host and set out to discover the world that existed around the Cantacuzino Palace.
Historic palaces and houses never existed in isolation. Neighborhoods formed around them, families, artists, politicians, and city dwellers met, and today's streets still preserve fragments of this social geography.
Tour „"The Nabob's Neighbors"” starts from the story of Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino and the spectacular palace on Calea Victoriei, but invites us to look beyond its gates. We will explore the surroundings, historical buildings and streets and try to reconstruct the atmosphere of the neighborhood in the past: who lived here, what institutions and cultural spaces appeared in the area and how this part of Bucharest changed.
It is, in essence, a tour about the neighborhood: about how the history of a building becomes much more interesting when we start to connect it with everything around it.

September 19 & 20 | Treasure Hunt for kids and parents
And for the littlest explorers we have prepared something different.
On both mornings, children and parents are invited to a urban treasure hunt, a combined game and learning program where searching for clues and solving tasks are fun, creative and intelligent.
Treasure hunts should be seen as a city exploration walk: participants look for clues, observe buildings and details, solve challenges and discover, almost without realizing it, new things about Bucharest.
For us, this is one of the best ways for children to begin building a relationship with heritage: not through a lesson about the city, but through curiosity, play, and discovery.

A city is discovered by walking through it
Urban Explorers means, above all, the invitation to look at Bucharest with more curiosity.
Sometimes it's enough to leave the usual route, enter a side street or look up at a balcony, an inscription or an ornament that you hadn't noticed before. The first edition of Urban Explorers showed how powerful this experience can be: the guided tour attracted almost 100 participants, and the public continued to explore the area after the end of the route.
On September 19th and 20th we are doing exactly that again.
We explore. We ask. We search. We listen to stories. And, for a few hours, we look at Bucharest as if we were seeing it for the first time.
We look forward to exploring together.
